The fragrance of fresh cooking on wood fire, the intoxicating sweetness of the trees and wildflowers, the playful caress of the clean wind ruffling your hair, and the expanse of the horizon taking your eyes beyond the endlessly forested mountain ranges, bring your heart and mind home to what the generations before us knew as pioneer life.

Once you have registered and walked down the ancient mounds built by the Adena Mound People, you have 
embarked on a journey of discovery. As you explore the pioneer life, you will recover the very fiber of your being and test your own mettle, as did your ancestors, the pioneers of their own lives.
A Day in Pioneer Life
Come for just a day’s visit and tour the living history of man’s first structure and how we evolved to the log cabin of pioneer life in 1750. You will learn that man lived in harmony with nature and stayed in the dwelling to sleep only. Pioneers, before they built the house in which to sleep, lived outside as well. Here you will see how families of pioneer life worked together to provide the food, fuel, clothing, and housing for the entire community. Sit in the Council house with the Chiefs and find out that pioneer life had issues just as we do today, but they had a solution that healed and helped the entire community.
Experience Pioneer Life for a Weekend
You may decide that just walking through Ancient Village, looking in from the outside of pioneer life is not enough to understand how you family struggled, survived, and succeeded to bring you into this world. People from all walks of like and all ethnic origins seek their origins in an attempt to understand what has brought them to life now. They desire to know who they are. Stay in the stone house or the grass wigwam and allow the ancients to talk to your heart so that you may gather the strengths of the people who have gifted you with life.
